San Francisco is one of our favorite karate tournaments. Same this year, only it is now being viewed through the blurry vision of bleary eyes. After driving through the night to the tournament Thursday, working as a ring coordinator during(think non-stop running from start of competition to end), and driving back home through the night Sunday, we are all trying to overcome sleep deprivation! Competition started at 5 on Friday, and Kelle did her weapons that night. Kelle handles competetion very well. In her very first division, she broke her bo in half right at the beginning of her kata. IN HALF! On a side strike. Very impressive, her display of power. But now she has no bo. She didn't even skip a beat. She picked up Robert's bo (taped to look like hers) and did the kata again. Even after all that, she took 2nd in the division. Kelle is in a particularly difficult division now, the 12-13 year old blackbelt division. Lots of tough competition, including SuperGrands winners, Michelle, Sage, Mara, Karina, and MacKenzie. She did awesome.

Jessica also did very well, taking a 1st, two 2nds, and a 4th. Her first place was in her traditional bo. Very clean. She fought, and took second, and took second in her fans. This is the biggest tournament Jess has participated in, and we think she did very well. Seeing the other out-of-state competition for the first time always is an eye-opener. She will continue to work hard for Portland, which is coming up on May 7-8. a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsHreFIC92MRqPgaE7yGNX5U4P_Zq4tbpX41DQTfZ6AMw1l9_ddAHHDVPS9XTShVKRsAaPJQudw6ydgHbpgVopN9s3-4qPGmXE_IlQf6qi6kKLKBOjntrpuAfLVQ7O96DM3HYgnSSK5bco/s1600/4-3-2010+118.jpg">
