In case there is any particular soul on the face of planet Earth who doesn't know, Breanna loves the Colorado Rockies. Just so ya know. She calls them her boys, and has a particular player, Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (#2), that she particularly loves. She says he wouldn't have married his wife if only he knew who SHE was! For a very long time now, Breanna has wanted to attend some Rockies games, and when she was training for her BlackBelt test, we added an incentive: you will be turning 18, graduating from high school, AND getting your blackbelt. Do a good job, and mom and dad will take you for a game or two in Coors Field.
Well............ She started saving her money so she would be able to buy souvenirs, working hard and training hard, and on the last possible weekend of the regular season, we went to Denver. One or two games turned into 4. Souvenirs and smiles aplenty, we were able to: snag 2 balls from batting practice, get autographs from several players (and a hug from Clint Barmes, 2nd base), watch the lady in back of us catch a foul ball with her forehead, and enjoy nearly every ballpark food offering there is (note to self: not a good plan. Ballpark food not so good for health and/or waistline).
We had such a great time with B! She was in heaven, and couldn't wait each day for us to get to the park, even if the game wasn't for several more hours. True confession: we attended Sunday services in the Cathedral of the Boys of Summer. We had intended to find a meeting, but found out that it happened to be Autograph Sunday, and that one of the big players (maybe even Troy!!) would be signing that day. We figured (justified, I mean) that the Lord would hopefully forgive us and be understanding of our Breanna's infatuation with all things Rockies. Breanna thinks HE just might be a Rockies fan...
Coors Field, Mom! I'm at COORS FIELD!
Ok, a staged pic of the lady getting the baseball in the head...But she really did take it well, all things considered.
Waiting to get in for batting practice at the "Early Gate"...the one they open first!
Ok, this was funny. We were watching one of the games, and B got something in her eye. Rather than go out and find a mirror (I don't want to leave the game!), she took a picture of her eye so she could see where the gunk was, and then fished it out. Only my B....
