School's OUT! Yay!!!

So finally, the day we always look forward to so we get a little bit of our life back. It seems that spring, with softball, end of school, start of tournament season, and start of summer all converge to make us a bit crazy. Here's a bit of a run-down on the happenings since last post:

Jessica and Kelle competed in Portland, OR over Mother's Day weekend (I know...it was bad timing...13 hour drive home that day) and did very well. Lots of firsts and seconds, Mom coordinated (which means non-stop running for 2 full days), and came home to a nice Mother's Day with the fam. Then the next weekend, Jess and Kelle competed again, this time in Green River, Wy. Again, a lot of first and second trophies came home. Jessica still loves her job at South Davis Hospital and driving her own car there. Kelle is looking very strong for the black belt test in the fall.

Stu and Dad have been preparing for the summer riding season, Dad by purchasing a new, faster Banshee (for the uninitiated, a Banshee is a very fast sand dune bike, that is very very loud and requires a grunt-load of testosterone to fully appreciate). Stu had been jumping his dirt bike, and is up to about 125 yards across and 18-20 feet in the air. Mom just holds her breath, and prayes that all the safety equipment we've purchased for him does the job. He is a good rider who has been riding since he was about 3, and is not only smart but talented as well. I don't really worry, just that little bit that moms do. And he knows we have a deal: All the bikes are in my name, so if I ever see him riding without his gear, I sell his bikes. He's always good to wear the gear. Now if we could get his dad to do the same...

Shiree has started her service mission at the Church Family History Center on Saturdays. She helps patrons search for family names, gets them started, and then sends them to one of the other specific floors for further research. She loves it. She is also playing with the bagpipe band, Wasatch and District. She loves that, too, and looks darn cute in her kilt and wool stockings. Last but certainly not least, she has been seeing Derek regularly, and is enjoying having a young man in her life. We like him too.

B just finished high school, and has a whole stack of great things lined out for display in the living room. The run-down on her school accomplishments: She was sent an invitation to apply for admission to the University of Utah because of a 4.0, she has an award for winning the HOSA (Health Occupations) competition with her friend McKenna, She has a graduation certificate from Seminary (the best accomplishment of all), she lettered in Softball at Layton High, was the most valuable defensive outfielder on the team, and made Academic All-State in Softball. Whew! She has done very well this year. Oh, and she finished with a 97% in her Medical Anatomy and Physiology Concurrent enrollment class. Very smart girl!

Stu starts summer driver's ed next week, 10 days of 7:30 am class. He's not very excited about the class, but is very excited to drive. He will do very well.

Mom got a new car (Jessica bought the Hyundai), an Acura MDX mid-size SUV. It is very nice. Very spoiled. But we prefer to think of spoiled as "well loved". Also, mom is teaching Tiny Tigers 4 days a week. That's 6 classes of 3 and 4 year olds doing karate. What a riot! They are very cute, happily uncoordinated, and full of energy. It is great. We also have Aiden 4 days a week. And that is the best part of all.

So that's the run-down. Maybe now that it's officially summer, I can get this blog updated a little more regularly! We can only hope.
