Layton vs Davis

So do you want the whole scoop, or just the final results? Ok, Davis won varsity, Layton won JV. Bummer for the varsity team. Layton was ahead, holding Davis for awhile, then Davis broke loose with some big hits and took the lead. With not enough time to do much about it, Layton held on with defense to keep the score from being too bad... 7-3. Bummer. B had a good game again, with dirt on her uniform to prove it-- A slide to 2nd (SAFE!) left her knees dirty, and a dive to field a ball (which was so shallow it was in the dirt) to get a runner out at second. She hit 1 for 2, which makes her mad, but all in all, it was a good game for B.

Tonight is their game with Spanish Fork. They all ride down together as a team on the bus, and come home with us. We will go straight from the games to the ward Talent Show, where Kelle will do her bo kata and B will play her viola with one of Shiree's piano students. The rest of us get to sit back and enjoy! Oh, but wait! Dr. Urry (Shiree's boss and a ward member) has been bugging her to play in the talent show. When she asked what to play, thinking "piano, cello, or bagpipes", he asked her if she would play the Feather Theme from Forrest Gump. What?! With all the cooler options, you want Forrest Gump? Ok, fine. Since Jess has to work and can't sing, Shiree will take her spot and play the requested Forrest Gump song. Sheesh! (Just kidding...It's probably a relief for her to have an easy request for a change.) She's practicing the piano part for the "Hallelujah" from the Mount of Olives, by Beethoven. For those who don't know that piece, it is BEASTLY. We are playing it in our sacrament meeting for the Easter program... Great piece, but very hard for the accompanist. She always makes it sound flawless, though!
