Softball Season Has Officially Begun...

Today was the first game of the softball season. Layton played against Weber, hoping to start off with a win. But no. Weber got out early because of Layton's pitching woes, and then Layton couldn't catch up. B had a heck of a game, though. She caught a fly to center to end that first disastrous inning, then caught another in center and threw out a runner at second. Then she got a double play, catching a fly and then hurling it to first to get a runner out who didn't tag, then fielded another and got a runner out at third. She has a rocket for an arm! Coach Knight told her several times that she had a great game.

The weather cooperated enough... It didn't officially rain, but it was windy and cold. In fact, the umpire called the JV game after the first inning because he was cold. (The rule is, they have to play at least one inning to count the game, but JV can be called for a multitude of reasons.) Kelle kept the official scoreboard, freezing behind the plate. And as much as we all wished the score to be different, she kept it accurately... :) All in all for B, it was a terrific game, but for the team it was a disappointment. They play again tomorrow and Friday, at Davis and then in Spanish Fork. They should probably do okay at Davis, but Spanish Fork is a softball dynasty that never loses. They are every team's good spanking for the year!

But rain or shine, the joy is being back on the field. And regardless of the team's final score, Breanna had a good game, so we are happy! Pics are a little fuzzy due to the overcast day and being on my phone camera, but they're the first pics of the season!
